Team Vaayushastra was established in
the year 2012 to represent Fr. Conceicao Rodrigues College of Engineering in SAE Aero
Design Competition. Since the year 2013, it has participated annually in the advanced
class of SAE Aero Design Competition, held in the United States, 7 times. It has been
one of the most consistent teams by finishing in the worldwide top 10 rankings 7 times.
The team is formed entirely of undergraduate students from the college who have the
aptitude and interest conducive to the competition. Currently, the team has 22 members
coming from all 4 departments of the college. For efficiency, the team is further
divided into 4 departments that work in tandem towards the common goal.

The SAE
Aero Design competition is intended to provide undergraduate and graduate engineering
students with a real-life engineering challenge. The competition has been designed to
provide exposure to the kinds of situations that engineers face in their real-life work
environment. First and foremost a design competition, students will find themselves
performing trade studies and making compromises to arrive at a design solution that will
optimally meet the mission requirements while still conforming to the configuration
limitations. The importance of interpersonal communication skills is sometimes overlooked,
yet both written and oral communication skills are vital in the engineering workplace. To
help teams develop these skills, a high percentage of a team's score is devoted to the
design report and the oral presentation required in the competition.
Team Vaayushastra has been one of the most consistent participants at the competition.
